Alessandro Manzoni was born in Milan in 1785 and was an italian novelist, poet and dramatist. He is considered one of the most italian novelist of all time for his famous novel The Betrothed, in italian I Promessi Sposi. In the two most famous Alessandro Manzoni’s portraits, he has always long sideburns, like the fashion of the time.
